Having traversed the globe internationally acclaimed storyteller, Tanya Batt, returns from her travels to share a story adventure in her very own back yard as part of the 2011 Waiheke Walking Festival.

In conjunction with the ‘Once Upon an Island Trust’ and Auckland Council, you are invited to join Tanya and a host of talented Waihekeans on an interactive storytelling walk – ‘The Rainbow Bridge’.
…Can you find the seven colours to solve seven riddles and form the Rainbow Bridge to bring Spring back from the depths of winter? Come dressed in your favourite colour and ‘be’ the story as it unfolds while walking in the beautiful Waiheke bush. Exercise for your body and imagination witha fun and seasonally appropriate alternative to Hallow’een.
‘The Rainbow Bridge’ storywalk takes place in Whakanewha Regional Park at The Duck Pond, on Saturday 29 October. Sessions will run at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Places are limited and booking is essential. Entry is $5 per person, $20 per family.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your session as there is a short walk from the car park to the duck pond, this also involves steps. Sessions will start promptly on the hour. The terrain is not suitable for prams.
…For more story adventures join Tanya, during the second week of the school holidays (17-21 October) at the ‘Story Centre’ for ‘A World of Stories’. This week long series of workshops draws upon the traditional stories/folklore of the countries visited in Tanya’s recent travels and are suitable for children 3-10 years old.

And for those a little older and braver (not suitable for children under 10 years old), ‘Stories from the Underworlds’ – an evening of Spring Hallow’een storytelling. In celebration of the traditions associated with life and death, Tanya Batt brings you a collection of stories from the ‘otherworlds’ of cultures visited during her recent travels. Meet a host of characters from unseen worlds including old boney legs from the Russian forests and Shiva, lord of the dead. From the nomadic tales of Mongolia to the haunting ghost stories of China – a night of stories guaranteed to make you shiver. This is a fundraiser for the Once Upon an Island Trust, held at the Community House, Awaawaroa Eco Village, Awaawaroa Road, Waiheke Island.
