Enjoy a star gazing walk along the Oneroa foreshore with Waiheke Walking Festival, and up the zig zag to join Ngāti Pāoa at Artworks Courtyard for a pōwhiri, karakia and kōrero about Matariki and its cultural significance. This is followed by learning from Dark Sky Waiheke the science and astronomical significance, as we watch Matariki rise in our sky.

Meet us at the car park on the corner of Beach Parade and Puriri Rd at 5am. (Park along Beach Parade or walk down from Ocean View Rd. Carpool if possible, thanks).

We will walk quietly, in the dark. Matariki is beautiful through binoculars, so be sure to bring yours.

Tea and coffee will be offered afterwards. Free event. No need to book or register, just come along.
