Stretch your legs and lift your spirits on this delightful 6km loop walk that winds through a rich tapestry of wetlands, open fields, and native bush. Perfect for walkers, this trail offers a refreshing mix of terrain and a front-row seat to the beauty of Aotearoa’s diverse landscapes.
Begin your journey by meandering through peaceful wetlands, where you’ll spot striking stands of oioi grass swaying gently in the breeze—an iconic plant of estuarine environments where saltwater and freshwater meet. Keep an eye out for raupō (bull rush), mangroves, and the tall, feathery plumes of toetoe lining the path—each adding to the lush, coastal feel of the area.
This is a wonderful loop walk from the local Waiheke Museum, which circumnavigates the Rangihoua Pā site. Note: For Maori cultural reasons, please respect this tapu area no food is permitted on the site.
After this stunning walk, enjoy a wine tasting at Postage Stamp and enjoy the ambience and chilled vibes at one of Waiheke’s hottest and laid back vineyard destinations.
