Overview
We know that not everyone can commit to the full 5-day Te Ara Hura experience and that's totally okay! We're excited to introduce our brand NEW 'Best of the Te Ara Hura - 3-day walk' for those looking for a shorter escape but still looking for a fitness challenge. You will be walking 6 to 8 hours at a moderate pace to complete up to 15-20km per day, so a very good level of walking fitness is required. Think of it as a hilly half marathon every day, for 3-days!

Want to know more? Here’s a brief outline of the 3-days …

Day 1 – Onetangi to Oneroa

Discover the hidden gems of Waiheke’s northern coastline, where pristine beaches, rocky headlands and lush green reserves create a landscape like no other. Thanks to the generosity of the Plested family, enjoy the rare opportunity to cross private land before descending to the iconic Onetangi Beach.  Celebrate the day’s adventure with a glass of local Waiheke wine, cheese and biscuits as you relax, socialise and share stories.

Day 2 – Oneroa to Blackpool

Discover Waiheke’s spectacular headlands, hidden architecture, local art and sweeping Hauraki Gulf views. A little rock hopping at Church Bay adds to the adventure, with an early start to beat the Matiatia tides. Includes a picnic lunch and a special wine tasting at Mudbrick.

Day 3 – Rocky Bay to Orapiu Rd

Explore Waiheke’s stunning southern coastline with sweeping views to Rangihoua, climb through beautiful Whakanewha Regional Park to Trig Hill, then tackle the island’s most challenging section of Te Ara Hura, including the famous rope-assisted climb. Refuel with a delicious walkers’ picnic lunch at Poderi Crisci and finish with a relaxing glass of wine at Passage Rock to celebrate your walking achievements!

What an incredible opportunity – grab your friends and get ready for three days of challenging fun!

PLEASE NOTE: There is a fee of $449 plus booking fee for this walk to cover most shuttle costs, plus food and drinks detailed above.   Walkers organise their own accommodation. Please check our cancellation policy before booking this walk.
