This year’s Waiheke Walking Festival dates will be

10th – 20th November 2022

A fabulous 11 days of walking on Waiheke Island

Our Festival team is already planning the programme for the 2022 Waiheke Walking Festival – presented by Ray White. So put these dates in your diary! For you this month …

  • How we will make the festival non-cancellable!
  • Thinking of becoming a walking festival volunteer?
  • Thanking those who donated Friends memberships, and more.

Our aim for 2022 is to create a fabulous festival that can go ahead whatever the year brings.

What we’ve learned over the past 2 years is that things change quickly – regulations, variants, alert settings, people’s appetite for group events – We don’t know what the next 8 months will look like, so we’re planning to design a Festival that can flex with any changes ahead.

The focus will be on creating amazing walks, creating choices for how people will do those walks, and keeping our walkers and volunteers safe.

We want to say a huge thank you

We are always grateful to our sponsors, funders, Friends, Patrons, and walkers, who support us through the year. Last year was tricky, and sadly the Festival didn’t go ahead, but many of these amazing people donated their contributions to help us with running the festival, and ensuring it can go ahead this year. Thank you so much, you know who you are.

Thanks to the wonderful Waiheke Local Board who see our Festival as such a positive event for Waiheke, and our Patrons who generously give to the Festival to ensure it can keep delivering on amazing walking experiences on our Motu.

We are also incredibly grateful to our private landowners who welcome us onto our properties and give walkers a really unique walking experience.

And thanks to our volunteers in their unmissable orange hi-vis!

Have you thought of becoming a Volunteer for the festival?

If you love walking and love people, you could join our wonderful group of volunteers. Admin and ‘sitting’ roles also available during the Festival. Please have a read through the info on our website, CLICK HERE or contact Vicki by replying to this message.

Did you know … Waiheke has its very own walking website

The Patrons of the Waiheke Walking Trust have funded a website for everyone to enjoy for free, and use to find fun and adventurous, or easy and close to home, walks on Waiheke all year round. It now has 25 walks, and includes detailed directions, maps and photos for all. Take a look at www.walkwaiheke.co.nz

If you do any of these walks and have feedback, please let Vicki know. We aim to keep the walks current and accurate 🙂
