Overview
Book this 5-day adventure now, so you have time to sort your accommodation! Join fun, fit local guides for this five day, nearly 100km Te Ara Hura walking adventure. This is the 7th year of the Te Ara Hura, and this year you will circumnavigate Waiheke anti-clockwise!

You will be walking 5-7 hours at a moderate pace to complete approximately 20km per day, so a good level of walking fitness is required. Each day the walk will start at 7.30am for our keen early birds – with some buses to start points at 6.45am.

Day 1 – Saturday 12 Nov – Oneroa to Blackpool

Today is all about the coast. Start in the bustling village of Oneroa and walk the headlands either side of Matiatia Bay. Experience breathtakingly beautiful views in all directions before finishing your day on the serene shores of our own Blackpool Beach. (Includes a little rock hopping around the Church Bay track section).

Day 2 – Sunday 13 Nov – Blackpool to Rocky Bay

Continue venturing anti-clockwise from Matiatia Bay along the southern shores and experience some of the real Waiheke heading toward Rangihoua. Take on Okoka Bay hills and Te Whau coastal track and experience breathtakingly beautiful views in all directions, expect a little coastal scramble, before finishing your day in eclectic Rocky Bay.

Day 3 – Monday 14 Nov – Rocky Bay to Orapui

Ascend through the fabulous Whakanewha Regional Park to Trigg Hill, and then begin the tougher bush section of Te Ara Hura, with absolutely spectacular views and lots of ups and downs, continue east through Awaawaroa and Passage Rock. Today includes the notorious “rope-assisted climb”.

Day 4 – Tuesday 15 Nov – Orapui (Cowes Bay turn off) to Onetangi

This is the eastern section which begins with stunning views as you venture north, taking in plenty of coastal roads and passing through Man O’ War Bay, before continuing on this stunning old farm road and then be treated to a tour as we cross private land through Rarowhara, Pie Melon Bay, and down to Onetangi Beach.

Day 5 – Wed 15 Nov – Onetangi to Oneroa

A day of gorgeous beaches, coastal vistas, and several regenerating reserves, ending back where you started 5 days ago, at Oneroa. It’s now time to celebrate the completion of your fabulous 5-day walk.

What an incredible opportunity – grab your friends and get ready for five days of challenging fun!

PLEASE NOTE: There is a fee of $175 for this walk to cover shuttle costs where required, and a few drinks and nibbles along the way.
