Join a group of 12 fellow walkers, staying at the lovely and relaxed Kiwi House in Oneroa. Enjoy walks with your group, some curated just for you, or join specially selected Festival walks, for three fun-filled, active days on gorgeous Waiheke Island.

The package includes 2 nights accommodation with breakfast, picnic-style lunches for 3 days, all transport to and from walk starts/finishes, premium walk fees, ferry pick up and drop off, and a host each day to help you enjoy 3 days of your walking adventure.

Walks will range in time and grade, but a moderate level of fitness is required as Waiheke is very hilly. Most walks involve some bush or coastal or vineyard tracks. They are graded 6/10 or 7/10. Check the link here for our walk grading system.

Itinerary:

Thu 2^nd November – Catch the 10am ferry from downtown Auckland and be greeted on Waiheke by your host and guide, for a fun first walk with just your group around the headlands north of Matiatia, through Owhanake Bay and Island Bay, along Oneroa Beach, (big O and little O), and over to your accommodation. Luggage will be transferred for you from the ferry, so come with a day pack to carry your provided picnic lunch, byo refillable water bottle, and appropriate hiking gear.

Fri 3^rd November – Begin today with your local guide as you explore from Oneroa to Onetangi Beach, a stunning coastal trail, with views forever, as the track climbs the rocky headlands and descends to sandy beaches, a mix of fabulous tracks and quiet roads. You’ll picnic enroute, then in the afternoon join other Festival participants on a brand new walk and Festival treat for 2023. The Postage Stamp Wines Grape to Grace Walk. This is a rare chance to cross the valley of vineyards, through the heart of Waiheke grape growing heaven, and finish with a wine tasting at one of Waiheke’s newest experience’s, Postage Stamp Wines.

Friday evening join Astronz and Dark Sky Waiheke for their wonderful astronomical walk and night sky viewing.

Saturday 4^th November – Join other Festival walkers on charter transport out to magical Wairua. This wonderful walk was last year’s Festival favourite, exploring this incredible piece of coastal land that was always private and unknown, with the generosity of the new owner and Festival friend and patron, Bruce Plested. You’ll be transported directly from here back to the ferry where we will bid you farewell after a fabulous 3 days of walks.

Price for a double room with en-suite is $754 per person, incl. GST, based on double occupancy.
Price for a twin room with a shared bathroom is $684 per person, incl. GST, based on double occupancy.

Notes:

1. There is a choice of restaurants and cafes for your evening meals in Oneroa, about 10 minutes walk of Kiwihouse. You may choose to dine as a group or individually, and we will help sort bookings as required. (Dinners at your own cost).
