Strap on your hiking shoes, this walk is for the people who just love walking! We will tackle one of the best 10km sections of the 100km Te Ara Hura track. Starting in Matiatia walk the fabulous coastal headlands around Owhanake and Island Bays, along Oneroa Beach and continue around the the stunning coastal trail. Enjoy views forever, as the track climbs the rocky headlands and descends to sandy beaches on a mix of fabulous tracks and quiet roads.
We will stop at a private property to enjoy your BYO picnic break, and some treats generously offered by lovely Deb Cairns and Chris Morrison, at their ‘glasshouse’ Airbnb property above Sandy Bay. The walk finishes on tranquil Palm Beach.
This walk is graded 6 out of 10. This means the route can include unformed tracks, possibly narrow or muddy stretches and steep sections. Please choose walks you are comfortable with and if you are booking for others, check with them too. Thanks.
