This is a walk for those who love to go further – a rewarding adventure where rugged coastline, ancient forest, hidden streams and tranquil bays come together in one extraordinary journey.

Setting out from Omiha, we’ll make our way along the dramatic Te Whau coastline, discovering the ever-changing beauty of Waiheke’s shores before turning inland into the magnificent wilderness of Whakanewha Regional Park.

Here, the landscape transforms into a world of towering native forest. We’ll weave our way through the Cascades on the Kōwhai and Tārata Tracks, following forest trails beneath a canopy of regenerating bush. Every turn reveals another layer of this remarkable walk from fern-filled gullies and cascading streams to sweeping glimpses of the island’s natural beauty.

Our reward is a well-earned pause beneath the shade of a magnificent pōhutukawa tree, where we’ll enjoy a BYO picnic lunch (or treat yourself to a delicious one from the Island Grocer – please see the add-on details) and a refreshing swim in the bay – a true Waiheke moment (remember your togs!).
